About Shin Sugok
Human Resources Development consultant.
After working in the Special Advertisement Unit of Hakuhodo (world’s ninth largest) advertising agency, launches an independent consulting practice with the founding of Kogasha, Inc. in 1985.
Today, Sugok Shin is one of the most renowned and successful human resource experts around the country, in high demand from a wide variety of sectors, including the private and public sectors alike.
She is particularly recognized for her contribution to the advancement of labor and human rights in the context of corporate personnel policies and practices in Japan. Aside from her remarkable human resources development career, she has worked tirelessly as a community volunteer, leading and supporting many civic engagement efforts around the country, and promoting a Japanese society that values and practices tolerance, respect and equality.
Shin Sugok is a recipient of a number of prestigious awards and recognitions. In 2003, she received the 15th Tada Human Rights Award, which recognizes exceptional commitment and contribution to the cause of human rights and social justice in the state of Japan.

In 1989, develop and deploy a set of unique professional development strategies targeting the female workforce in alignment with the Gender Equity legislation for the Asia Pacific Expo. Though this approach defied preexisting industry norms at the time, set the industry record on personnel retention and expense reduction, while achieving record attendance figures and media coverage, and propelled Shin Sugok’s name to the limelight among top industry experts.

3. Institutional Reform and Revitalization efforts
Revitalizing the workforce through operational reorganization, personnel appraisals system reform,
and other overhaul measures, through strategic placement of customized personnel development positions
as key element of the bottom-up ‘restructuring’ as opposed to the conventional approach to top-down
restructuring strategies that eliminate, rather than develop and reconstruct, the workforce.
Developing and supplying experts to model this demonstrated winning strategy and ensure its long-term
sustainability on the ground: In 1996, with the establishment of the Human Resources Development Research Institute,
through intensive programs over a three-year period, train and successfully place approximately
one hundred personnel development supervisors in the corporate sector.
4.Teaching, Seminars and Public Speaking
Shin Sugok is a rarity in that her reputation extends across all sectors of society ranging from corporate executives to the rank-and-file members of worker unions, as well as public agencies and educational institutions, and finally, the public interest, non-profit sector that has flourished in Japan in recent decades. A household name in Japanese society today, requests for appearances exceed hundreds each year, and is also regularly called upon as a credible expert on television, radio and other media on relevant affairs.
Regularly conduct lectures, seminars, and public speaking (i.e., keynote speeches, etc.) at a wide variety of venues, ranging from university classrooms, business schools, corporations, municipalities, educational associations, etc. Currently, instruction and talks largely focus on topics of human resource development strategies as they explicitly relate to compliance with labor and human rights protection laws and policies.
